About the Role:

Reporting to the Director of Systems Engineering (EU and ANZ), this role will work with a highly experienced team of engineers on both long-term projects and day-to-day tasks. As one of the senior level engineers, you will be expected to manage your own projects, communicate effectively, and also be a technical resource for others on the team. You will be an empowered Engineer that will help drive the direction of technical solutions and ultimately the product. Every Senior System Engineer will help drive the server and application configuration standards across the global computing environment.


  • Remotely administers, installs, maintains, monitors, and troubleshoots:
    • Server/storage systems and other supporting systems in a geographically dispersed heterogeneous environment
    • CyberFortress’ product portfolio server-side applications within areas of expertise
    • Coordinates onsite maintenance, installation, replacement and repair of servers/storage and supporting systems when needed
  • Maintains systems security and data integrity by ensuring compliance with CyberFortress policies, procedures, and guidelines and identifies and escalates security risks.
  • Performs hardware, software, and operating systems patching in adherence with CyberFortress policies, standards, and guidelines
  • Works closely with:
    • The Build Team on product builds, upgrades, deployments, and fixes to the CyberFortress product portfolio
    • The Network Operations team on firewall policies, network device configuration, IPAM, routing, VLANs, and other technologies
    • The Customer Experience teams on complex customer technical issues and solutions
  • Responsible for systems access and event management in-line with CyberFortress policies, procedures, and guidelines including performing daily reviews of system monitoring logs, verifying the integrity and availability of servers/storage, systems and key processes and performing remedial actions as required
  • Participates in the TechOps Service Desk, providing request fulfillment, incident management, problem management (Tier 3 resolutions) and acts as an escalation point to Tier 1 & 2 TechOps and Tier 2 & 3 Customer Experience teams.
  • Participates in 24/7/365 on-call rotation and acts on alerts and incidents that are produced by the monitoring solution in accordance with CyberFortress policies, procedures, and guidelines
  • Adheres to CyberFortress policies, procedures, and guidelines in regards to naming conventions, system configurations, methods and practices.
  • Prepares policies, escalation and maintenance procedures for servers/storage and related systems
  • Prepares project documentation, scheduled reporting, policies, procedures and other documentation when assigned by management
  • Creates and maintains published documentation such as operations manuals, rack diagrams and photos, floor plans, and contact information.
  • Maintains inventory & asset management including Hardware, Software, OS, and Devices
  • Participates in change control and production control in-line with CyberFortress policies, procedures, and guidelines
  • Performs other duties as requested and within areas of expertise


  • 7+ years’ experience working in a DevOps/Sysadmin team
  • 5+ years hands-on hardware configuration experience in a multi-platform environment (UNIX, Linux, Widows Server) with at least 2+ years of System Administration experience
  • Experience working in a multi data centers environment
  • Experience with Fortinet and Cisco ASA NGFW
  • Experience with Managed Switches (Preferably Extreme Networks)
  • General routing proficiency, Static and Dynamic Routing
  • Experience with VPNs & 2FA
  • TCP/IP Good understanding of the OSI model
  • Demonstrated project management skills and the ability to work in an agile environment
  • A deep understanding of Windows and Linux fundamentals.
  • Database maintenance (Microsoft SQL), profiling, diagnostics, troubleshooting, performance optimization, bench marking and monitoring
  • Experience implementing Application monitoring solutions (New Relic, Zabbix, Solar Winds, etc.)
  • Experienced in writing scripts to perform various automations (Ruby, Perl, Python, MS Batch, MS PowerShell) a plus
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills are required. Candidate must be proficient in MS Office with an excellent knowledge of PowerPoint and Excel
  • Candidate must be self-starter and capable of working on several projects and efforts simultaneously
  • Computer Science Degree Required or equivalent experience
